Lora J. Hildreth
Ms. Hildreth started on the program with a low self-esteem and right after the death of her husband, she was told to leave her mother-in-law residence. Left alone with two children to support, no transportation and no place to find employment. Ms. Hildreth decided to seek help through the workforce office at the Greasewood Sub-office to better her life, upgrade job skills, find employment and become self sufficient. Determined to accomplish her goals Ms. Hildreth worked closely with her Employment Assistance Officer (EAO) to comply with all program requirements to complete the program with a very positive outcome. Ms. Hildreth was able to obtain a full-time job as a Medical Assistant with Family Medicine in Phoenix, Arizona.
Tonia Dedman
Tonia is supporting four dependents, including a self-employed spouse (silversmith). Parents are struggling to support four young children with part time work, lacked work education & experience, low self esteem and on public assistance. Tonia decided to continue and complete high school by attending class everyday to obtain GED certificate. Participant lack confidence and self esteem. But, after receiving a variety of services from workforce she was able to get her GED in a short time. Enrolled back in school – taking 19 credit hours towards her associate degree program. Workforce provided job readiness training in resume writing, letter of recommendation, and other job search skills.
Marsha Hildreth
Marsha was a single parent raising three young children with no job, lacked any type of work experience, had low self esteem and on public assistance. Despite these conditions, Marsha was determine to continue her education by driving 80 miles round trip to attend class everyday to obtain her certificate. Residing on the reservation where there are no resources available is a tremendous economic barrier facing these participants. Despite the condition, Marsha obtain a variety services from the workforce program which increase her self-esteem and after completing her school she started seeking a full-time job. Through workforce assistance in resume writing, letter of recommendation, and other job search skills. Marsha was able to obtain a full-time job with NTUA.
Danielle Bryan
Danielle did not have the family support to start her education or training process. She resides in a remote location on the reservation where there are no resources available. In order to enroll in school, Danielle had to drive 5 hours to Mesa, Arizona to start her paperwork for admission and financial aid. She came back with her papers to obtain funding from workforce. After completing all her eligibility requirements and intake forms, including submitting supporting documents. Danielle remained focus to continue her training in Mesa, Arizona.
Roberta Baldwin
Roberta is 30 year old and single parent with a young daughter and on public assistance (food stamps, self-reliance program), child support. She wanted to work to become self-reliant, independent, and obtain employment but was hard to achieve with no support. Under these conditions, Roberta developed low esteem and no confidence to pursue employment or training. After hearing about the workforce program, she enrolled and followed the program’s procedure. Roberta took the assessment and tested, score high enough to enroll in the Bryman School for Medical Billing/Coding. Determine to complete the training she stayed focus and attended classes everyday until she completed the training. Decided to stay in Phoenix for employment due the lack of jobs on the reservation - resources are very limited and people are facing tremendous economic barrier. In closing, workforce program provide an opportunity and resources needed to increase her job skills, gain self-esteem and obtain certification to get full-time employment. Roberta is now working full-time in the area of her training and thankful for workforce in providing the needed assistance and encouragement.
