(Native Employment Works)
The Native Employment Works (NEW) Program provides education, training, job readiness, employment activities and support services necessary for assisting participants in preparing for, obtaining, and /or for retaining employment to eligible residents of the Navajo Nation.
To be eligible for N.E.W. Program you must meet the following:
- Native American (Tribal enrollment verified),
- A resident within the Navajo Nation service delivery area,
- Age 14 years or older,
- Meet one of the following target groups:
- Program for Self-Reliance : formerly known as [TANF] or
- Public Assistance Recipient : General Assistance, Food Stamps, USDA, Food Distribution Program, or
- Social Security Benefits Recipient - (Includes Supplemental Security Income (SSI), OASI, Medicaid, and other titles), or
- Long-term unemployment and job seeking, or
- A tenant in a low-income housing program, or
- A teen parent, or
- A displaced homemaker, or
- A High School drop out.
